Rosemarie "Penny" Wilks  Fitzgerald
.Mrs. Rosemarie "Penny" Wilks Fitzgerald, 89, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017. A native of Logan, WV. Penny was the daughter of Mary McClure Wilks and Winton G. Wilks. A graduate of Westhampton College, she enjoyed her time substituting at Ravenscroft School. Having never met a stranger, Penny was always active in the churches she attended. She was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church, Fayetteville, NC, and then White Memorial Presbyterian Church, Raleigh, where she also worked for many years. Penny sang in the choir, participated in many circles, and was an elder in the church. One of her greatest ministries was writing and sending cards. She embodied love and grace and lived a grateful life.

Penny is predeceased by her brother, Winton G. Wilks II and is survived by the love of her life, her husband of almost 66 years, Earl Fitzgerald; her children, Nancy F. Myers, and husband Kurt, Pfafftown, NC; Steven E. Fitzgerald, and wife Debbie, Raeford, NC; and Scott M. Fitzgerald, and wife Kathy. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Barbara Wilks and her seven grandchildren, Lauren (Brandon), Curt (Brooke), Mallory (AJ), Kati-Mac (Josh), Jake (Rebecca), Morgan, and Taylor, as well as her great-grandchildren, Mason, Quinn, Banks, Peyton and Hugh.

A celebration of Penny's life will be held Saturday, September 23 at 1:00 p.m. at Pollock-Best Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service
