Carol Burroughs Rice of Havelock, died peacefully on Wednesday May 3, 2017. Born in 1933 in Washington NC, Carol began her career with Carolina Telephone Company. In 1954, she married the love of her life Richard G. Rice Jr. Together, they built businesses which have served Havelock for over 49 years.
Carol was preceded in death by her son Richard Kenneth Rice. She is survived by her loving husband Richard, daughter Cathy Rice Fischer, daughter Kim Rice Smith and Son-in-Love Larry Smith, all of Havelock.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Richard Fischer, Cassie Fischer, Delaney Fischer, Luke Mayberry, Lauren Mayberry and Shelby Smith all of Craven County.
In addition, Carol is survived by her brother and his wife , Bobby and Shirley Burroughs of Havelock and two sisters Bessie Heindel of Jacksonville, NC and Barbara Merricle of Virginia.
The funeral will take place Sunday May 7, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Havelock. Visitation at 1:00pm, Service at 2:00pm, followed by a brief graveside service at Greenleaf Memorial Park in New Bern.
Carol loved flowers and they are welcome, as are donations to the Havelock High School Marching Rams at 101 Webb Blvd. Havelock, NC 28532
