NEW BERN, NC
Mr. Lawrence L. Phifer, Sr, 71, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017. A native of Union County, NC, Lawrence was a member of Clarks United Methodist Church, and a retired supervisor at Bosch Power Tools. He was a longtime member and past Chief of the West New Bern Fire Department, a member of the New Bern Fire Department and a member of Doric #568 AF & AM Masonic Lodge. When his sons were younger, Lawrence was very active in the Babe Ruth Association. In his later years he was a machine shop instructor at Lenoir Community College.
A memorial service for Lawrence will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Clarks UMC with Rev. Mike Register officiating. Burial will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park. Lawrence is survived by his three sons, Steven W. Phifer, and wife Katie, of Newport; Lawrence L. “Jay” Phifer, Jr., of New Bern; Eric Phifer, of New Bern; his sister, Jeannette P. Flowers, of Raleigh, his nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
