Obituary for Dorothy M. Muldowney

CAROLINA PINES

Dorothy Mai Muldowney, 89, of New Bern, NC passed away unexpectedly on the 21st day of February at her home.

Dorothy was born in Shreveport, LA on October 17, 1927 to the late Alfred Joseph Dugas and Marceline Delery Dugas.

She proudly raised three daughters in South Plainfield and Long Valley, NJ. She was a mother who was active in PTA and Girl Scouts. After a fulfilling career in the insurance business she retired, along with her husband, to North Carolina where she could be found on the golf course, playing bridge, or participating in many senior activities with her circle of friends known as the “Golden Girls”.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Clarence William Muldowney and her parents. She is survived by three daughters, Suzanne Danner and her husband Allan of Bound Brook, NJ; Patricia Jones and her husband Paul of Emerald Isle, NC; Kathleen Quinn and her husband Patrick of Elverson, PA. She is also survived by five grandchildren Scott Danner and his wife Bernadette of NJ; Stephanie Parascandola and her husband Joseph of NJ; Karen Seymore and her husband David of NC; Sean Quinn and his wife Rachael of PA, and Cory Quinn and his girlfriend Ashley of PA. Six great-grandchildren also survive her: Nina Danner, Alison and Daniel Parascandola, Davin Joe and Michael Jake Seymore, and Porter James Quinn.

A celebration of Dorothy's life will be 9:00 AM, Saturday, May 20, 2017 at St. Francis by the Sea with Rev. L. Everett Thomas, D.Min., Ph.D officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Francis by the Sea, 920 Salter Path Road, Salter Path, NC 28575.

Arrangements are by Pollack-Best Funerals and Cremations of New Bern, NC.
