Ms. Anne Barker Faulkenberry, 65, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017, at her home with her family by her side. A longtime resident of Craven County, Anne was a faithful member of Centenary United Methodist Church where she was in the Sara Porter Circle. Anne earned her Bachelors and Masters from East Carolina University, where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Shee devoted her working life to education, teaching in Craven County and Greenville City schools and serving as a Clinical Instructor at ECU. She administered the Coastal Consortium of SECU Partnership East, helping future teachers to gain the education they need through their local community colleges. Anne was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma society for women educators, and in 2014, she was inducted into ECU’s Educators Hall of Fame. Anne was also a licensed auctioneer, and was quick with a smile. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean K. and Christopher S. Barker, Jr.

Anne is survived by her son, Christopher C. Faulkenberry (Sarah), of Durham, NC; her brothers, Gary C. Barker (Nan), of New Bern, NC; Christopher S. "Buddy" Barker, III (Paula), of Dallas, TX, and many dear friends, relatives, and fellow educators.

The family will be receiving friends 6-8 PM, Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Pollock~Best Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Centenary UMC with Rev. Susan Pate Greenwood officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Those wishing to offer words of hope and condolences may visit www.pollockbest.com. The family of Anne Barker Faulkenberry wishes to thank Dr.’s Gorman and Whitmore; Craven County Hospice, Assisting At Home; and her dear friends and caregivers, Betty Cannon, Marshall Faulkenberry, Barbara Saunders, and Esther Cooper, for their unending love, support, kindness, and care during these last few months. You were Heaven sent.
