New Bern – Dorothy Meadows Barwick, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 5, 2016 at her residence.
Dorothy was a member of New Life Free Will Baptist Church. She and her husband Mutt were owners of Trent Marine Service.
Mrs. Barwick was born February 15, 1930 in Jones County, daughter of the late Marion Butler and Minnie Jane Riggs Meadows. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Edgar Murle “Mutt” Barwick, Sr., her daughter Cynthia Jane Barwick Ward; and her siblings, Loise Meadows King, Willard Lee Meadows, Marion Edward Meadows, William Daniel Meadows, James Harding (J. H.) Meadows, Lynwood Paige Meadows, and Wilbur Leo Meadows.
She is survived by two daughters, Rosalee (Rosie) Barwick Freese (Daniel) of New Bern and Dorothy (Dottie) Barwick Jones of Pollocksville; son Edgar Murle “Sonny” Barwick, Jr. of Pollocksville; two brothers, Clifton Denwood Meadows and Wade Franklin Meadows; five grandchildren, Cory Barwick, Kelli Murphy, Jamie Jones, Muryel Vary and Caslyn DeLuise; and one great-grandchild Alura Murphy.
The family will receive friends at Pollock-Best Funeral Home Thursday, December 8 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
