NEW BERN, NC
Marvin Lee Weatherly, 93, died Thursday, November 24, 2016, peacefully at his home surrounded by his closest loved ones. He was born May 22, 1923 in Terrell County. He made his home in New Bern where he married the love of his life, Mabel Goulding Weatherly, and raised his family.
Mr. Weatherly was a member of St. Mary’s Free Will Baptist Church. He served in the US Army during World War II, and was a member of Doric Masonic Lodge #568 AF & AM, and was Past Master. His love of painting led him to found Custom Sign Company. Many signs still showcase his work around New Bern.
He is survived by wife, Mabel, daughter, Sharon W. Rhodes and friend, Eugene Seamster of New Bern, grandchildren; Mark C. Rhodes and wife, Melanie, Matthew J. Rhodes, Tracy C. Miller and husband, Brad, Karen E. Cooper, son-in-law, A. Phillip Cooper, great-grandchildren; Olivia G. Rhodes, Benjamin T. Miller, Lauren K. Cooper and Elizabeth J. Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Jordan L. and Boquet Basnight Weatherly, and daughter, Shauna W. Cooper.
Funeral services for Marvin Weatherly will be held, Sunday, November 27, 2016 at 2:00 pm, at Pollock-Best Funerals and Cremations. Visitation will be held one hour prior, at 1:00 pm, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
