Although there have been several, every time I think of the church pastor for my present church (been a member for 35 yrs.) I have a mental picture of Pastor Blevins! And you cannot picture Pastor Blevins without his sharing that picture with the sweetest lady with the most beautiful smile, Mrs. Blevins! She was always the perfect compliment to his ministry, and to him personally!
When I first met the Pastor & Mrs. Blevins, I felt as though I had known them forever, and that when speaking with them, I was the most important person in the room. I was absolutely sure I was the most important person to Mrs. Blevins, when on their very first dinner on the grounds, she brought the most wonderful Chicken Casserole, and all of it just for me!
No, I wasn't a child, but you would have thought so with my selfish behavior toward that scrumptous casserole. I did share, but I definitely made sure I got a second helping! From that day forward, even though I never had prior, I made sure to be present at every opportunity for covered dish church dinners, because Mrs. Blevins was going to bring a chicken casserole! She gave me the recipe many years later, but I have never been able to replicate the taste of hers! I have decided that I just don't have her charm!
While I will miss her Chicken Casserole, I will miss her so much more! Thank you to the Blevins family for sharing this precious lady with us!
