NEW BERN, NC
Mr. John L. DeWane, 72, crossed the finish line Friday, August 5, 2016. He was born in Chester County, PA, the son of the late F. Willis & Florence M. DeWane. He was a long-time resident of Collegeville, PA before retiring to New Bern in 2006. John was an automobile salesman eventually owning his own business. An avid NASCAR fan, he rooted strongly for Dale and Dale Jr. When he was young he enjoyed boating and navigating the waters of the Chesapeake Bay. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Sadly, John was preceded in death by his granddaughter Patty Mulligan.
John is survived by his loving wife, Karen DeWane; his children, Michael DeWane, of Delaware City, DE; Kristin D. Mulligan, and husband Michael, of Las Vegas, NV; Tara D. Hawkins, and husband Jim, of Annapolis, MD; and his brother, Ed DeWane, and wife Andrea, of Pottstown, PA. John also leaves behind his grandchildren, Brian, Shawn, Kathleen, Matthew and Daniel.
